Pasadena City College President resigns. But . . .

The controversial president of Pasadena City College will retire at the end of the month, officials announced Thursday.
Mark W. Rocha will step down from his nearly $250,000-a-year job at the end of August, according to a statement from the college. The trustees soon will hire an interim president, according to the statement from spokeswoman Valerie Wardlaw.
"It's time for me to spend more time with my family and return to my passion for teaching and writing," Rocha said in a statement.
He did not return a call seeking comment.
On the other hand, you would to if they paid you to leave in the amount of $400,000 dollars. Another LA Times article states:

Pasadena City College officials agreed to pay controversial President Mark W. Rocha more than $400,000 as part of his retirement settlement, according to documents released Thursday.
College officials initially denied that Rocha was receiving financial incentives as part of his departure, but school leaders agreed to pay him 18 months of salary and some of his potential legal fees. Rocha was also able to help prepare the news release announcing his retirement and received a letter of recommendation from Anthony Fellow, president of the college's board of trustees.
With faculty salaries often not even getting COLA, this is rather disturbing.  This guycan fail, and still get a sizable payout.
