Huffington Post article on Obamacare and Adjunct Faculty

The Huffington Post had a pretty good article on the implications of Obamacare on Adjunct faculty hours.  Essentially, nothing is set in stone, and HR departments in the US are often making arbitrary decisions on restrictions of classes an adjunct can work.

Many adjuncts who are not represented apparently are reaching out to SEIU.  Ironically, as these decisions are being made, they are creating an environment for unionization.

Adjunct faculty, who often don't have a union or tenure to protect their employment, haven't taken the threat or reality of cuts sitting down. The lack of health insurance has helped fuel a movement, with SEIU help, to unionize adjuncts in Boston. In New Hampshire, faculty have protested against limiting the workload of adjuncts toroughly 27 hours a week at community colleges.
